HCMC – Airbus has said it would expand its supply chain in Vietnam to optimize its operations and better serve its customers, Hoang Tri Mai, Airbus chief representative in Vietnam, told the Vietnam Aviation Forum held in Hanoi City today, March 21.

Mai said that Vietnam is rated as a country with great potential thanks to its highly skilled and motivated workforce, a vibrant manufacturing sector, and good infrastructure. The European plane maker sees opportunities to tap into the growth potential of the country and drive economic growth in the region. “Vietnam has made remarkable progress in recent years, and we are excited to be a part of its continued growth,” said Mai. “Airbus is in close discussions with local companies to provide new orders in aircraft parts manufacturing to develop a robust supply chain that meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability." Airbus’ existing partners in aircraft parts manufacturing include Artus (Meggitt) Vietnam in HCMC and Nikkiso Vietnam in Hanoi. Airbus is a leading supplier of aircraft to airlines in Vietnam, with more than 220 operational aircraft in Vietnam and another 110 on order for future delivery. The expansion of Airbus’ supply chain in Vietnam will also contribute to Vietnam's economic growth. Vietnam’s air transport sector creates 2.2 million jobs and contributes US$12.5 billion, or 5.2%, to the country’s gross domestic product. “We are proud to play an important role in Vietnam’s rapidly developing aerospace industry. We look forward to strengthening our partnerships with local stakeholders,” said Mai. The new commitment to expand its supply chain demonstrates Airbus’ confidence in the future of the sector, she added.
