Choosing between a stable career path and a creative passion is a crossroads many young people face, but few navigate it as boldly as Phạm Ngọc Khanh. After graduating with a degree in Restaurant Management in Canada, the former Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) student made a definitive decision to return to Vietnam and pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a performing artist and musical theater composer.
Khanh’s international academic journey began early. After completing Grade 9 at VAS, she relocated to Montreal, Canada, where she spent seven years studying and living. She eventually graduated in Restaurant Management from LaSalle College, one of North America's largest bilingual institutions. However, instead of following the conventional hospitality career track, Khanh chose to pivot toward the performing arts—a decision that demanded both resilience and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. Her determination quickly yielded significant milestones in the local and international theater scenes. Khanh secured a full scholarship to the Places! Broadway Musical Theater Camp 2024, organized by Impact Theatre Saigon (ITS). Following the camp, she joined the ITS Ovation musical theater project, contributing as both a composer and performer in several major productions. Most recently, Khanh’s artistic talent earned her a prestigious US$80,000 scholarship to The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), one of the United States’ premier institutions for the performing arts. Khanh’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that success is rarely a straight line, but rather the courage to redefine one’s own path. While her final destination remains open, the foundation of global skills and adaptability she cultivated during her early years at VAS continues to illuminate her artistic pursuits.
