HCMC – Vietnam reported 11 new Covid-19 cases by community transmission in the northern province of Hai Duong this morning, March 2, sending the country’s tally to 2,472 to date, said the Ministry of Health.

Among the new patients, 10 are residents of Kim Dinh Commune and one is from Ngu Phuc Commune of Kim Thanh District. They were linked to previously confirmed Covid-19 patients and were placed in quarantine on February 28. They are being treated at the Field Hospital No.3 at the Sao Do University in the province. Overall, the country has confirmed 1,562 locally-infected cases up to now, with 869 of them being recorded since January 27. During the latest coronavirus wave, Hai Duong, which is currently Vietnam’s biggest coronavirus hotspot, reported the highest number of community cases at 684. Of them, 297 patients have been declared free of the coronavirus. Given the complicated development of the disease, the steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control of Hai Duong on March 1 decided to quarantine the entire Kim Dinh Commune in 14 days. The commune is home to 2,120 households with more than 7,500 residents. Among the nation’s tally, 1,892 patients have fully recovered, while deaths remained at 35.
