HCMC - Vietnam's population has surpassed 100 million people, marking a demographic milestone for the Southeast Asian nation even as it faces declining birth rates and a rapidly aging population.

HCMC – Several countries and international organizations have extended sympathy and support to Vietnam to cope with the devastating consequences of typhoon Yagi and ensuing flooding and landslides.
On September 12, South Korea committed US$2 million in humanitarian aid to assist Vietnam’s recovery efforts. Australia has also provided AU$3 million in emergency relief aid, with the first shipment of aid have already arrived in Hanoi. Japan is considering providing supplies through JICA, including water filters and plastic sheeting. ASEAN and UNICEF have already provided essential aid, including household items, clean water, and sanitation supplies to the affected areas. Other organizations, such as UN Women and European embassies, are working with Vietnam to assess urgent needs and coordinate appropriate support measures. In a show of empathy for residents in the northern upland of Vietnam, the Swiss government has pledged one million Swiss francs (about US$1.2 million) through the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit, along with experts and resources to support relief operations. On September 12, Argentina and France expressed solidarity with Vietnam and its people in the wake of typhoon Yagi and subsequent flooding. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken extended his heartfelt sympathies to those affected, noting that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing humanitarian aid to support Vietnam’s recovery efforts.
