HCMC - E10 gasoline will be distributed nationwide in Vietnam from June 1, 2026, under a new regulation issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
Circular 50/2025 sets out the country’s official roadmap for blending biofuels with traditional fuels. From June 1, 2026, all mineral gasoline must be blended with 10% ethanol to produce E10 for nationwide distribution. The timeline is six months later than the ministry’s earlier proposal, which targeted implementation at the start of 2026.
E5 RON92 gasoline will continue to be permitted for gasoline-powered engines until the end of 2030.
MoIT said it may adjust blending ratios or introduce new fuel types during implementation, depending on market conditions and energy security needs. The ministry aims to ensure environmental protection while maintaining consumer interests.
For diesel, the use of biofuel blends such as B5 and B10 remains voluntary. Producers, distributors, and consumers are encouraged to manufacture, blend, and use biodiesel, though no mandatory timeline has been set.
MoIT’s Department of Innovation, Green Transition, and Industrial Promotion will work with relevant agencies to develop technical standards for E5, E10, and biodiesel blends. The Domestic Market Department and the Ministry of Finance will propose tax and fee policies and guide pricing mechanisms for biofuels under state-managed market rules.
Earlier, on August 1, Petrolimex and PVOIL began piloting E10 sales in Hanoi, HCMC, and Haiphong, with prices adjusted under MoIT’s regular fuel-price management cycle.
