HCMC - Vietnam's population has surpassed 100 million people, marking a demographic milestone for the Southeast Asian nation even as it faces declining birth rates and a rapidly aging population.

HCMC - Kon Plong District in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum was shaken by four earthquakes on March 31, with magnitudes ranging from 2.6 to 3.1, according to the Institute of Geophysics.
The most recent quake of 2.9 magnitude occurred at 9:28 a.m. Earlier in the day, the first earthquake, recorded at 3.1 magnitude, struck at 4:08 a.m. It was closely followed by another quake with a magnitude of 3.0 about two minutes later. At 4:46 a.m., the district experienced another earthquake, measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale. All four tremors occurred at a similar focal depth of around 8.1 kilometers.

Local authorities continue to closely monitor seismic activity in the area.

Since April 2021, Kon Tum Province, especially Kon Plong District, has experienced hundreds of earthquakes, several of which caused widespread tremors. The strongest recent earthquake struck at noon on July 28, 2024, registering a magnitude of 5.0. Previously, a 4.7-magnitude quake occurred on August 23, 2022.
