HCMC - Vietnam's population has surpassed 100 million people, marking a demographic milestone for the Southeast Asian nation even as it faces declining birth rates and a rapidly aging population.

HCMC – Landslides triggered by heavy rain in the aftermath of Storm Wipha had blocked more than 190 road sections in central and northern provinces as of July 28, according to the Department for Roads of Vietnam.
In Nghe An Province, 184 landslides were reported. Of those, 129 were on National Highways 7 and 16, while 55 were on provincial roads 543, 543D, and 543C. Six suspension bridges in the mountainous communes of Muong Quang, Tuong Duong and Luong Minh were also damaged or swept away. In Son La Province, landslides hit National Highway 4G, cutting off traffic in Huoi Mot and Sop Cop communes since July 27. The road is expected to reopen by July 30. Some sections have been cleared, but blockages remain in some parts. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha issued a directive calling for urgent recovery in Son La and preventive measures against future floods and landslides. The Ministry of Construction was told to support affected areas and restore damaged infrastructure, including roads, power, water, telecoms, and public services.
