HCMC – Vietnam’s new daily Covid cases totaled 10,365 today, April 23, declining by 795 cases against yesterday, according to the Ministry of Health.

The capital city of Hanoi again saw the most, at 978 cases, followed by Phu Tho with 753 cases, Bac Giang with 538 cases, and Nghe An with 456 cases. Fifty-five other provinces and cities recorded below 500 cases each, including HCMC with 76 cases. More than 2,200 Covid patients were declared free of the disease today. Meanwhile, six others died of the disease, the lowest in nine months. To date, the country’s total recoveries and fatalities linked to the coronavirus have reached over nine million and 43,004, respectively. In related news, both public and private hospitals in HCMC were asked to establish a three-level post-Covid treatment system based on their capacity, according to the municipal health authority’s plan issued yesterday to provide medical care and treatment for recovered patients. The move is aimed at early detecting post-Covid symptoms, minimizing the possible risk of death, protecting the workforce, and improving the quality of life among residents. Under the plan, the first level of the system will include district-level medical centers and grassroots-level medical stations. They will provide guidelines and medical care to people at risk of catching mild post-Covid symptoms. The second level will comprise district-level general hospitals that will be in charge of people with moderate post-Covid symptoms. The third level will include higher-level hospitals that will handle people with severe and critical post-Covid symptoms.
