HCMC - Vietnam's population has surpassed 100 million people, marking a demographic milestone for the Southeast Asian nation even as it faces declining birth rates and a rapidly aging population.

HCMC – More than 203,000 rapid Covid-19 test kits weighing 4.5 tons in total donated by Germany safely arrived in HCMC yesterday, August 9.
This is the second batch of one million rapid coronavirus test kits that the governments of some German states have donated to Vietnam, aimed at helping the nation contain the spread of the coronavirus, reported Bnews. This batch was transported by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines from Frankfurt to HCMC at no charge. These quick test kits were approved for use in Germany by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices. They will be allocated to HCMC and Binh Duong, which are the biggest coronavirus hotspots in the country in the current wave. Earlier, Vietnam Airlines on June 27 transported 170,000 rapid test kits from Germany to Hanoi. Since the middle of June this year to date, the carrier transported over 3,000 experts, officials, medical workers and students from various parts of the country to the southern localities including HCMC, Binh Duong and Dong Thap to support the Covid-19 fight. The carrier has also supported the transport of nearly 180 tons of medical supplies such as ventilators, test kits, protective clothing, Covid-19 vaccines and face masks since the pandemic broke out in the country.
