HCMC - Vietnam's population has surpassed 100 million people, marking a demographic milestone for the Southeast Asian nation even as it faces declining birth rates and a rapidly aging population.

HCMC – Eateries, cafés and recreation venues in Quang Ngai restarted operations today, August 24, while bars, karaoke and massage parlors remained closed.
The provincial government issued an official decision relaxing social distancing measures, allowing production facilities, food and café services, entertainment and recreation venues, sports centers, beaches and tourist sites to resume operations. Meanwhile, weddings, funerals and house-warming parties should be organized in a basic manner, ensuring the number of guests does not exceed 50, the local media reported. Internal and interprovincial passenger transport services are also allowed to restart from today, but Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures must be strictly implemented in line with the Ministry of Transport. Apart from this, the transportation of goods, necessities and Quang Ngai residents to Ly Son District is allowed to return to normal, while the province is continuing stopping the transport of passengers from or to other localities, which are following the prime minister’s Directive 16. The province also continued suspending festivals, religious events and gatherings and sports competitions and tournaments, while other nonessential services such as karaoke and massage parlors, nightclubs, cinemas, bars and video game arcades remained closed. As for the education sector, extracurricular activities are yet to be allowed in the province and teachers are encouraged to instruct students on how to learn online. Despite easing social distancing measures, Quang Ngai Province continues to put persons—who return to the province from hospitals in Danang and others who have traveled to Covid-19-hit localities—under quarantine.
