HCMC – The Ministry of Home Affairs has given the green light to a proposal for state officials and employees to enjoy the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday for seven days, from February 8 to 14, 2024.

If officially approved, the week-long Tet holiday would start on the 29th day of the 12th lunar month and end on the fifth day of the first lunar month. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs has proposed two options for the traditional Tet break, the country's biggest and longest national holiday. In the first option, the holiday would last seven days, from February 8 to February 14, 2024. With this option, employees would have two days off before the Lunar New Year comes. The second option also offers a seven-day break but there is only one day off before the beginning of the Lunar New Year. Thus, the holiday would last from February 9 to 15, 2024. Domestic private and foreign-invested businesses are encouraged to refer to the above schedule to make suitable personnel arrangements for the holiday. They should also inform employees of their plan for the holiday at least 30 days prior to the actual break. The Tet holiday proposal must be sent to the prime minister for approval and enforcement.
