HCMC – Signify, a Dutch multinational lighting corporation, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Innovation Center (NIC) to promote digital transformation in public lighting and drive innovation in building smart cities and factories.

The document was signed by Phung Hoai Duong, CEO at Signify Vietnam, and Vu Quoc Huy, director of NIC, as part of a high-tech business forum that took place in Hanoi on November 2. The event was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte.

Huy said smart cities and smart factories are two of the main fields of priority for NIC. These initiatives aim to enhance competitiveness, optimize efficiency in operations and services, improve the quality of life, and ensure environmental sustainability.

He added that the construction of smart cities and smart factories in Vietnam will be expedited, providing the country with fresh opportunities to address the complexities of industrialization and urbanization.

Under the MOU, the two companies will collaborate to explore the potential of smart lighting to achieve net-zero emissions. They also aim to participate in pilot initiatives, including the integration of digital lighting systems to enhance energy efficiency in Vietnam and the use of cloud-based servers to drive innovation in digital lighting.

Signify and NIC will establish partnerships with relevant local governing bodies to accelerate technological progress in high-tech agriculture in Vietnam.

This collaboration underscores Signify's commitment to facilitating connections between NIC and governmental bodies, organizations, enterprises, and technology firms, both in the Netherlands and globally.
