HCMC - Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fisheries exports rose 6.1% in the first five months of 2026 to an estimated US$29.82 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Exports in May reached roughly US$6.46 billion, up 4.8% from a year earlier and 1% from April. During the five-month period, export revenue from agricultural products reached US$15.51 billion, up 0.5% year-on-year. Exports of livestock products totaled US$308 million, up 43.2%, while seafood exports amounted to US$4.65 billion, an increase of 10.6%. Forestry product exports were valued at US$7.65 billion, up 4.5%, and exports of production inputs reached US$1.7 billion, surging 83%. Salt exports totaled US$6.7 million, up 45.8% from a year earlier. By region, Asia remained the largest market for Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fisheries exports, accounting for 44% of total export value. The Americas and Europe were the next two largest destinations, with shares of 21.3% and 15.1%, respectively. Africa and Oceania represented smaller shares of 2.5% and 1.4%, respectively. Among key export commodities, Vietnam’s rice exports were estimated at 1.1 million metric tons worth US$511.7 million in May. For the first five months of 2026, rice exports totaled 4.5 million tons valued at US$2.09 billion, up 6.6% in volume but down 3.6% in value compared with the same period in 2025. Coffee exports in May were estimated at 190,000 tons worth US$830.2 million. In the January-May period, coffee exports reached 972,000 tons valued at US$4.41 billion, up 13% in volume but down 9.8% in value from a year earlier. On the import side, Vietnam's agro-forestry-fisheries imports were estimated at US$4.73 billion in May 2026, down 5.6% from the previous month but up 17.3% from a year earlier. For the first five months of the year, total imports of agro-forestry-fisheries products reached US$22.28 billion, up 12.6% year-on-year. Agricultural products accounted for the largest share of imports at US$14.35 billion, an increase of 16.4% from a year earlier. Imports of livestock products rose 29.7% to US$2.24 billion, while forestry product imports increased 20.4% to US$1.49 billion. Seafood imports edged down 0.5% to US$1.3 billion, and imports of production inputs fell 9.3% to US$2.88 billion. Salt imports climbed 48.4% to US$18.3 million. By region, Asia and the Americas were Vietnam's largest sources of agro-forestry-fisheries imports, accounting for 32.6% and 21.8% of total import value, respectively. Europe, Oceania and Africa represented smaller shares of 3.7%, 3.7% and 2.9%. Compared with the same period last year, imports from Asia rose 16.9%, while imports from Oceania and Africa increased 22.9% and 13.9%, respectively. Imports from the Americas slipped 0.2%, while those from Europe declined 4.5%.
