HCMC – Vietnam Airlines will launch the maiden nonstop flight to the United States in late November, making it the first airline in Vietnam to operate a scheduled direct air route to the U.S.
The air carrier has received a permit to operate scheduled direct flights to the U.S. by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), as it met all safety requirements, the airline said today, November 1. TSA’s permit is one of the most important conditions to pave the way for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to grant a permit to a foreign carrier to conduct scheduled direct flights linking the two countries. Earlier, Vietnam Airlines completed all the procedures necessary and submitted documents to TSA for the assessment of the national flag carrier’s ability to ensure aviation security and security capacity at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC. The airline met the United States Code, the Code of Federal Regulations and other aviation security regulations, so TSA approved Vietnam Airlines as eligible to fly direct from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport to the San Francisco International Airport in the U.S. After receiving approval from the FAA, the air carrier will launch the first nonstop flight between Vietnam and the U.S. in late November this year.
