HCMC - The Health Ministry has urged localities and hospitals nationwide to prepare isolation and treatment facilities, medical equipment, and supplies to receive, isolate, diagnose, and treat new Covid-19 cases.

According to the ministry, while Vietnam has reported 148 Covid-19 cases across 27 provinces and cities since early 2025 with no fatalities, the global situation remains concerning. Countries such as Brazil, the U.K., and Thailand have seen an uptick in infections, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn). In response, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment under the ministry has called on directors of hospitals, health institutes under the Ministry, and provincial and municipal Departments of Health to implement urgent disease prevention measures. Hospitals are required to review and update their Covid-19 admission and treatment plans based on projected outbreak developments, ensuring readiness and avoiding passive or delayed responses. Healthcare facilities must be prepared with adequate infrastructure, designated isolation zones, medical equipment, and supplies to carry out case reception, isolation, diagnosis, and treatment. Infection control measures must also be strictly enforced to prevent the spread of the virus, especially through respiratory transmission within medical settings. Particular attention is advised for the protection of high-risk patient groups, including pregnant women, those with underlying or severe conditions, the elderly, and patients in intensive care, cardiology, dialysis, or surgical departments. Although Vietnam has yet to record significant outbreak clusters, the Ministry of Health confirmed a slight increase in weekly Covid-19 cases. Travelers returning from countries with high infection rates are advised to monitor their health closely to help prevent potential transmission. The ministry continues to urge the public to follow Covid-19 preventive measures, including wearing masks in public spaces, on public transport, and in healthcare facilities; avoiding large gatherings when not essential; washing hands regularly; staying physically active; and maintaining a healthy diet. Individuals experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath are advised to seek prompt medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility for timely evaluation and treatment.
