Tremors were also felt in neighboring Da Nang City and Gia Lai Province.
According to the Vietnam Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center under the Institute of Earth Sciences, the strongest quake, with a magnitude of 4.9 at a depth of 8.1 kilometers, struck Mang Ri Commune at 1:28 am on Monday.
The center classified it as a level-1 natural disaster risk.
Residents across Quang Ngai, Da Nang, and Gia Lai reported strong shaking lasting several seconds.

Mang But 2 Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Elementary and Middle School, located near the epicenter, suffered significant damage.
The roof of its two-story administrative building was badly broken, while dormitories for 60 students showed large wall cracks threatening structural stability.
Five teacher accommodations were also damaged.
At satellite campuses, minor structural cracks were found, including at Dak Chun and Dak Lanh schools.
Classes in computer labs have been suspended, with equipment temporarily removed for safety.
The school has relocated students to safer classrooms and called on local authorities to inspect and repair facilities.
From 6:58 pm on Sunday to 11:49 am on Monday, 21 quakes with magnitudes ranging between 2.5 and 4.9 were recorded in Mang But and Mang Ri Communes.
Pham Quan Quang, chairman of Mang Ri Commune’s administration, confirmed no casualties but said several homes reported broken furniture and mild damage.
