RSS Persistence is led by Col. Siswi Herlini, commander of Singapore's Maritime Training and Doctrine Command and head of the ship's delegation, while Lt. Col. Hu Junjie Daniel serves as the vessel's commanding officer.
Col. Nguyen Hai Chau, deputy chief of staff of Vietnam's Naval Region 4, chaired a welcoming ceremony for the Singaporean delegation, Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper reported.

During the visit, which runs from August 1 to 5, the ship's command team will pay courtesy calls on Khanh Hoa leaders, the Naval Region 4 and the Vietnam Naval Academy.
The crew will also meet with officers and cadets of the academy and take part in cultural activities and sightseeing in the province.
The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the armed forces of Vietnam and Singapore in general, and the two countries' navies in particular, according to Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People's Army) newspaper.

RSS Persistence is one of four Endurance-class Landing Ship Tanks designed and built by Singapore, along with RSS Endurance, RSS Resolution and RSS Endeavour, Thanh Nien reported.
The ship is 141 meters long, has a draft of 6 meters and displaces around 6,000 metric tons.
RSS Persistence is equipped with a flight deck for two medium-sized military helicopters, along with modern systems and equipment, enabling it to carry out transport, amphibious landing, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
