Bualoi, which will become the 10th storm to hit the East Vietnam Sea in 2025, was located over the waters east of the Philippines at 7:00 am on Thursday, with the maximum sustained wind at level 12 (118-133 kph).
The storm follows super typhoon Ragasa, the ninth storm to hit the maritime region this year, which weakened into a tropical depression after making landfall in northern Vietnam on Thursday afternoon.
Meteorologists predict that between Thursday night and Friday, a new tropical convergence zone will form in south-central Vietnam, connected to storm Bualoi, bringing heavy rain to the southern region.
On Friday and Saturday, rainfall is expected to increase in both intensity and coverage, with scattered showers and moderate rain in many areas in the southern region.
Thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong gusts, lightning, and whirlwinds.
Ho Chi Minh City and several southern localities saw heavy rain and thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon.
