Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters on Sunday found the problem on the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa Streets, especially in front of the T3 exit in Tan Binh Ward.

The area has become an illegal dumpsite with plastic bags, styrofoam boxes, and other waste scattered everywhere.

When it rains, water collects among the piles, worsening the stench.

Several other unofficial dumpsites were seen along the road, mixed with overgrown grass and discarded pipes.

Nearby streets such as C12, where new paving stones were recently laid, also suffer from illegal dumping.

A local resident said the issue recurs owing to people’s habit of littering, which has creates massive piles over time.

He complained that the stench worsened after rain and negatively affected the city’s image, especially since the area is frequented by locals and tourists.

He urged authorities to address the situation.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, chairwoman of the Tan Binh Ward administration, told Tuoi Tre on Monday that officials had received the report and would order an immediate inspection and clean-up
