Unstable weather hits Ho Chi Minh City as seasonal thunderstorms continue

According to the Southern and Central Highlands Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center, current thunderstorms are part of a seasonal transition.

A cold, dry high-pressure system from the north is pushing a moist, low-pressure trough southward, creating conditions for strong convective cloud development and storm activity.

These conditions may also lead to hail in parts of southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands, the center warned.

From Friday to Saturday, the two regions will see sunny weather during the day and scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Some areas may experience moderate to heavy rain.

Thunderstorms could bring lightning, strong winds, and whirlwinds.

Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 33–34 degrees Celsius.

Between Sunday and next Tuesday, skies will be partly cloudy with mostly sunny conditions.

Some areas may experience heatwaves, and rainfall will decrease, but isolated showers and thunderstorms remain possible in the late afternoon.

Temperatures are forecast to range from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, with some locations exceeding 35 degrees.

From April 30 to May 4, the southern and Central Highlands regions will see sunny mornings and early afternoons.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the evenings throughout both regions.

Highs are expected between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.

Le Dinh Quyet, head of forecasting at the Southern and Central Highlands Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center, said weather during this transitional period remains highly unstable, and severe weather phenomena can occur during storms.

Afternoon and evening storms are likely to persist during the five-day Reunification Day holiday period from April 30 to May 4, which could impact outdoor events and festivities.
