Vietlott jackpot finds $650,000 winner in year-end draw

The winning ticket matched the numbers 01, 25, 35, 36, 37, and 45 from draw No. 1,452 held on New Year’s Eve.

Under Vietnamese tax regulations, lottery winnings are subject to a 10-percent personal income tax.

Before payout, Vietlott will withhold approximately VND1.7 billion ($65,000) in tax.

As a result, the jackpot winner will receive an estimated net amount of roughly VND15.4 billion ($585,500).

In addition to the top prize, the Wednesday evening draw also produced multiple lower-tier winners.

There were 12 first-prize tickets, each worth VND10 million ($380).

The draw also recorded 960 second-prize winners, each receiving VND300,000 ($12), and 17,568 third-prize winners, with each prize valued at VND30,000 ($1.2).

Vietlott added that this was the second major Mega 6/45 jackpot win within a short period.

Just one week earlier, on December 24, a customer in Ho Chi Minh City claimed a Mega 6/45 jackpot worth more than VND21.5 billion ($817,500), highlighting a streak of high-value wins at the end of the year.

The company said it will hold the first draw of the new year for its Power 6/55 product on Thursday evening.

As of December 30, the Power 6/55 Jackpot 1 had climbed to more than VND144 billion ($5.5 million), while Jackpot 2 reached the VND6-billion ($228,000) mark.
