An officer of the provincial Department of Public Security said on Tuesday that the criminal police division, in coordination with police in Vo Cuong and Bac Giang Wards, successfully broke up the operation led by Do Van Thanh, 42, a resident of Ha Dong Ward in Hanoi.

Officers had previously discovered two pairs of men and women engaging in acts of prostitution.

The two men, aged 22 and 39, both living in Hanoi, admitted to selling sex to two women, aged at nearly 40.

Investigators determined that the price of the sex service was VND2.5 million (US$96) per person.

After each successful transaction, Thanh paid the male sex workers VND1 million ($38), along with travel expenses.

According to police, when the women had demand, they contacted and negotiated directly with Thanh via the Zalo messaging application.

Sex buyers were required to transfer a deposit of VND1 million, with the remaining amount paid later to Thanh.

During questioning, Thanh confessed to his entire role in organizing and brokering prostitution activities.

The Bac Ninh police investigation agency has initiated a criminal case, charging Thanh with prostitution brokerage in accordance with the law.

Police are continuing to consolidate case files to impose administrative penalties on both the buyers and sellers involved.
