Vietnam congratulates China on 76th National Day

Top Vietnamese leaders have extended congratulations to their Chinese counterparts on the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (October 1, 1949 - 2025), the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.

Party General Secretary To Lam and State President Luong Cuong sent congratulatory messages to China's Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress.

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung also sent greetings to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

In their messages, the Vietnamese leaders praised China’s achievements in socio-economic growth and reform over the past 76 years, expressing confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Xi at its core, the country will reach its strategic development goals, become a modern socialist nation, and contribute positively to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.

They reaffirmed that strengthening stable, healthy, friendly, and cooperative ties with China is a strategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralization of external relations.

The Vietnamese leaders stressed readiness to maintain close exchanges with Chinese counterparts, foster traditional friendship, and deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future.

This year also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.

Bilateral trade reached US$205.2 billion in 2024, with Vietnam remaining China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and fourth-largest overall.
