According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the Vietnam Administration of Disease Prevention under the Ministry of Health on June 25 issued a notice regarding information circulating about health declaration requirements for people entering, leaving, or transiting through Vietnam.
In the notice, the Vietnam Administration of Disease Prevention said it had been made aware of information that, from July 1, 2026, travelers to Vietnam would be required to complete a health declaration upon arrival.
The information circulated after the government issued Decree No. 165/2026/ND-CP, which details the implementation of several provisions of the Law on Disease Prevention and took effect on July 1.
Article 22 of the decree regulates health declarations for people entering, leaving, or transiting through Vietnam.
According to the Vietnam Administration of Disease Prevention, Clause 2 of Article 22 stipulates that the minister of health will issue guidance on the groups of travelers subject to health declarations at border gates, as well as the period during which the requirement applies for each infectious disease, based on the global disease situation and the risk of the disease entering Vietnam at any given time.
Therefore, the health declaration provision under Decree No. 165/2026/ND-CP should not be interpreted as imposing a mandatory, blanket requirement on all inbound, outbound, and transit travelers at all times from July 1, 2026.
Health declarations at border gates will be required in accordance with guidance issued by the minister of health for specific infectious diseases, depending on the epidemic situation and the risk of those diseases entering Vietnam at any given time.
The Vietnam Administration of Disease Prevention also confirmed that the Ministry of Health is not currently using the website https://tokhaiyte.vn to collect health declarations from people entering, leaving, or transiting through Vietnam, contrary to the information circulated earlier.
