The 71-year-old tourist, identified as Ramires Maria De Jesus, told police she was taking photos while riding a cyclo on Thach Han Street when a man on a motorbike rode up from behind and grabbed her iPhone 15 before fleeing.
Police said they quickly identified a 26-year-old local man as the suspect and recovered the phone, which was returned to the victim.
The tourist expressed relief and thanked officers for their assistance.
In a separate incident in February, authorities at Hue’s Phu Bai International Airport said they returned a lost bag containing personal documents to an Australian traveler after it was found in the arrival hall during a patrol.
