The Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education under Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training held a two-day training program in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday and Saturday for experts representing the country's 11 competition categories.

Speaking at the event, Le Thi Hang, deputy director of the department, said the competition would take place from September 22 to 27 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

It is expected to draw more than 1,400 contestants from over 70 countries and territories competing in 64 trades, the largest scale in history.

Vietnam has participated in the WorldSkills Competition since 2007, with most contestants drawn from vocational schools and universities.

The country has previously won medals in information technology software solutions, CNC milling, and CNC turning, along with certificates of excellence in other categories.

Authorities said Vietnam was not only training contestants for the 2026 competition but also standardizing experts, interpreters, and support teams in line with requirements set by the WorldSkills International.

The training program focused on competition regulations, technical descriptions for each trade, scoring and evaluation procedures, ethics requirements, and mandatory online modules for first-time experts, who must complete accreditation requirements before May 22.

Vietnam's delegation is being prepared in coordination with sponsoring and partner organizations ahead of the September competition in Shanghai.
