The police's investigative agency announced on Thursday that it had initiated criminal proceedings against the owner of TOP 98 for alleged infringement of industrial property rights.
The case stems from a July 28 inspection of the shop on April 30 Street in Trang Bom Ward, where police seized a large quantity of clothing suspected of carrying counterfeit Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, and other trademarks protected in Vietnam.
The seized goods were valued at VND232 million ($8,979).
Investigators determined that the shop owner's alleged trading of counterfeit branded clothing showed signs of a criminal offense, prompting the prosecution.
The case remains under investigation.

Trang Bom Ward police have urged anyone who purchased counterfeit branded clothing from TOP 98 or Fashion T.O.P 98 to contact local authorities for assistance.
Police also warned businesses against producing, trading, transporting, or storing counterfeit goods and products that infringe intellectual property rights.
Consumers were advised to verify product origins before making purchases and report suspected counterfeit trading activities to authorities or through supported functions on VNeID, Vietnam's electronic identification app.
