Domestic tourism is expected to reach about 125 million trips this year, helping lift revenue across lodging, food services, and passenger transport.

Transport volumes rose nearly 23 percent in the first 10 months of 2025 to about 5.8 billion trips, the report said.

Vietnam Report said 64 percent of tourism and hotel companies posted higher revenue this year and nearly half reported higher profit.

The survey found travel frequency rising among Vietnamese consumers, with most taking two to three trips a year.

Spending of VND10–15 million (US$379–569) per trip remains the largest segment, while higher-spending groups are growing in major cities.

Younger travelers, particularly Generation Z or people born between 1997 and 2012, are expected to travel more in 2026 despite modest budgets between VND3 million ($114) and VND5 million ($190) per trip.

They often prefer independent or adventure trips and use personal vehicles, the report said.

Generation Y, born 1981–1996, showed the strongest intent to increase travel spending, with about 40 percent willing to spend VND10–15 million per trip.

They prefer leisure and wellness travel and mostly fly.

Generation X, born between 1965 and 1980, preferred slower-paced, wellness-focused trips, with more than 57 percent willing to spend over VND15 million per journey.
