At the launch event, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung insisted on combining global and national-level AI efforts.
While applications like ChatGPT have global reach, he noted, national applications are equally vital.
He described this as an opportunity for developing countries like Vietnam to shape sustainable solutions using both global tools and local insight.
"CMC OpenAI is a Vietnamese company with the advantage of Vietnamese data, solving Vietnamese problems," the minister said.
He highlighted the company's strengths in open-source AI, the adaptability of Vietnamese culture, and the intelligence and creativity of its people.
CMC's strategic focus on AI, he added, aligns well with the demands of rapid technological transformation.
According to CMC, the C-OpenAI platform is based on more than 25 core technologies developed in-house.
These include computer vision, natural language processing, large language models, speech processing, and data lakehouse architecture, a new open format for managing large-scale data.
The company stated that these technologies have already been commercialized and recognized in international benchmarks, affirming its global research and development capabilities.
Dang Van Tu, CEO of CMC OpenAI, said the company's innovations reflect its commitment to building cutting-edge, scalable AI solutions for Vietnam and beyond.
In line with a Politburo resolution, Vietnam aims to be among the top three ASEAN countries in AI research and development by 2030.
The strategy designates major tech firms like CMC as pioneers responsible for building foundational technologies, platforms, and applications to support this goal.
