Nguyen Tuan Anh, 37, from Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam, said on Wednesday afternoon that he was receiving treatment at Vinmec Nha Trang General Hospital in Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam after being assaulted early that morning.
Anh said he and his friends had traveled from Hai Phong to Nha Trang on Tuesday afternoon and were staying at a hotel in Bac Nha Trang Ward.
At around 1:00 am on Wednesday, Anh and his friends were having snacks on the beach near their hotel when another group of seven people arrived.
One of them then urinated on the beach where Anh and his friends were eating.
"I told him to use a public restroom instead of relieving himself right on the beach, in front of us and foreign tourists. But he shouted at me and then repeatedly punched me," Anh said.
The attack stopped only when others intervened.
The incident was recorded on a phone by Anh’s friends.

Doctors diagnosed him with a torn lip and swelling around the eye.
Local police confirmed they are investigating and have interviewed the victim at the hospital.
