After the congress wrapped up its plenary discussion session, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Pham Gia Tuc presented a draft of the adjusted agenda for delegates’ consideration.

Prior to the congress, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu announced at a press briefing that the 14th National Party Congress would take place from Monday to Sunday.

However, during the course of the congress, with the highest spirit of action, highly scientific and responsible working methods, many agenda items were completed ahead of schedule.

As a result, delegates voted on Wednesday afternoon to approve the revised program, shortening the congress by 1.5 days.

The congress is now scheduled to close on Friday.

The five-yearly congress, held at the National Convention Center, is convened under the motto ‘Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development,’ bringing together 1,586 delegates representing more than 5.6 million Party members nationwide.

During its two main working days, the congress heard and discussed, both in group sessions and in plenaries, a series of major documents.

These included the draft Political Report of the 13th Party Central Committee; the draft Report reviewing a number of theoretical and practical issues related to the socialist-oriented renewal process over the past 40 years in Vietnam; the draft Report summarizing 15 years of implementation of the Party Statutes (2011–2025), together with proposals and orientations for amending and supplementing the Party Statutes; and the Report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Party Central Committee.

Under the revised agenda, the congress will focus on personnel matters on Thursday and Friday, including the election of the 14th Party Central Committee.

The newly-elected Central Committee will then convene its first plenary meeting to elect the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Party General Secretary, and the Central Inspection Commission.
