Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery sector has continued its strong performance, with export turnover between January and November estimated at US$64.01 billion, up 12.6 percent year on year and surpassing the full-year record of $62.4 billion set in 2024.

During the 11-month period, agricultural products remained the biggest earner with $34.24 billion, up 15 percent year on year, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Livestock exports grew 16.8 percent to $567.4 million, while the nation exported aquatic products worth $10.4 billion, up 13.2 percent.

Forestry exports climbed 5.9 percent to $16.6 billion.

In November alone, the country’s export value reached $5.8 billion, a slight decline of 3.7 percent month on month, but still 8.4 percent higher compared with the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

For the 11-month period, agro-forestry-fishery imports rose 10.1 percent to $44.45 billion.

Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery trade surplus during the period stood at $19.5 billion, a 19-percent year-on-year increase.

Agricultural commodities showed broad-based growth, with coffee, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, and pepper all posting strong gains.

Coffee remained the standout, with overseas shipments reaching 1.4 million metric tons worth $7.88 billion between January and November, up 14.1 percent in volume and 59.7 percent in value year on year.

Average export prices of coffee surged nearly 40 percent to $5,667.6 per metric ton.

Germany, Italy, and Spain were the biggest buyers, while Mexico recorded a 26-fold increase in the purchase of Vietnamese coffee.

Meanwhile, the coffee exports to Indonesia reported the sharpest decline at 8.9 percent.

Fruit and vegetable exports also maintained strong momentum, with export value growing by 19.5 percent to $7.9 billion, driven by higher demand from China and expanding market presence in the United States.

Cashew exports totalled 698,100 metric tons worth $4.76 billion, posting nearly 20-percent growth in value despite only modest volume expansion, an indicator that rising prices drove revenue gains.

Pepper exports during the 11-month period experienced a drop in volume but benefited from the strongest price increase among all commodities, leading export value to surge more than 23 percent to $1.5 billion.

These commodities benefited from favourable global prices and steady demand in major consumer markets.

However, several major agricultural products posted declines.

Rice experienced the sharpest fall, with both volume and value down amid intense global competition and falling prices.

Overseas shipments reached 7.5 million metric tons worth $3.83 billion, down 11.5 percent and 27.7 percent year on year, respectively.

Tea and rubber also continued to soften due to weak demand and market volatility.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that it would continue enhancing both domestic consumption and export growth, working toward the 2025 export goal of around $70 billion.

In response to the U.S. reciprocal tariff, the ministry has rolled out various adaptation strategies involving market diversification, technological upgrading, policy adjustments, economic diplomacy, and strengthened supply-chain linkages.

Support for businesses, particularly those exporting to the U.S., will be intensified to help sustain growth.
