Vietnam’s Da Nang museum housing 12 national treasures opens free on National Day

The Da Nang Museum at 42-44 Bach Dang Street in Hai Chau Ward and its second facility at 281 Phan Boi Chau Street in Ban Thach Ward will waive admission fees on September 2.

Visitors can explore exhibitions featuring the city’s history, heritage, and local cultural life.

The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture will also offer free entry from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm that day.

The museum houses 12 national treasures, the largest collection held by a museum in Da Nang.

Among them are artifacts dating back more than 1,200 years, including the Tra Kieu Pedestal and My Son E1 Pedestal from the seventh-eighth centuries, a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha, the 10th-century Tra Kieu Apsara relief, and the Tara Bodhisattva statue from Dong Duong.

A museum representative told Tuoi Tre (Youth) that regular admission costs VND60,000 (US$2.3) per adult, but visitors will be admitted free on National Day.

The museum will also stage cultural programs, including the “Champa Dance” performance and, for the first time, handpan music shows in its indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Da Nang Fine Arts Museum at 78 Le Duan Street will likewise offer free admission, including access to the “Da Nang Urban Sketches” exhibition, which runs from August 26 to September 15.

Visitor numbers at museums across the city began rising on August 31 compared with the first two days of the holiday.

Marble Mountains keeps regular ticket prices

Unlike the museums, the Marble Mountains scenic site will continue charging normal admission fees during the September 2 holiday.

The attraction welcomed more than 11,000 visitors in the first two days of the holiday, most of them domestic tourists from northern Vietnam.

Nguyen Van Hien, head of the Marble Mountains Scenic Site Management Board, said visitor numbers were expected to increase significantly on August 31.

He said the site had waived admission to Thuy Son Mountain and Am Phu Cave on several occasions in 2025 under local policies.

However, regular ticket prices will remain in effect during this year’s National Day holiday.
