According to FPT's audited consolidated financial report for 2025, the company had 54,110 employees at the end of 2025, down from 54,646 a year earlier, a reduction of about 540 staff.
The executive said the widely shared online claim that FPT had reduced its workforce by 26,000 people in 15 months was inaccurate, and said posts containing the figure had been removed by some publishers.
The company's workforce decline marks its first annual contraction after nearly a decade of steady expansion.
FPT's employee count rose from 25,322 in 2017 to 27,843 in 2018, 28,781 in 2019, 30,651 in 2020 and 37,180 in 2021, before increasing further to 42,408 in 2022, 48,162 in 2023 and 54,646 in 2024.
The company's 2025 report also showed continued growth in global operations, with staff spread across more than 30 countries and territories.
In its annual report, chairman Truong Gia Binh said companies are facing heightened pressure from technological disruption and shifting economic conditions, citing rapid advances in artificial intelligence and broader global economic volatility.
He said artificial intelligence is reshaping how businesses operate and compete, and that firms must address challenges related to productivity, cost and time to remain competitive.
