The electric taxi service was officially introduced on Friday in New Delhi, coinciding with World Environment Day.

In the initial phase, Green SM Limo will operate in selected areas across the Delhi National Capital Region before gradually expanding its coverage.

The service uses VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater electric multi-purpose vehicle manufactured by VinFast, the electric vehicle arm of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup.

The model is designed for daily commuting, family travel, business meetings, and airport transfers, according to the company.

The vehicles are equipped with basic amenities such as drinking water and wet tissues.

Safety features include interior and exterior cameras, AI-enabled monitoring systems, and emergency assistance buttons for both drivers and passengers.

All Green SM drivers, known as ‘green drivers,’ undergo specialized training in electric vehicle operation, road safety, and customer service.

The company has developed a service philosophy called ‘Ride 5 Star,’ which focuses on vehicle quality, safety, professionalism, and customer experience.

In India, rides can be booked through the Green SM mobile application, available on the App Store and Google Play, via a hotline, or by hailing vehicles directly in operational areas.

At the launch ceremony, Green SM announced a promotional discount of 50 percent, capped at 250 Indian rupees (US$2.62), for app-based bookings.

The company also named five strategic partners across transport, tourism, technology, and services, which will join its Green Alliance Frontier initiative, a platform connecting businesses aligned with sustainable development goals.

Nguyen Van Thanh, global CEO of Green SM, said India is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing mobility markets, with significant potential for green transportation.

He added that the electric taxi service is expected to provide local residents with an additional option for safe, reliable, and more environmentally friendly travel.

Founded in Vietnam in 2023, Green SM operates in the electric ride-hailing and transport sector.

Its expansion into India reflects the company’s continued global ambitions amid rising demand for green mobility in major urban centers.
