Bui Van Manh, director of the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the viral post was “written purely based on emotion” and may even have used AI-generated content to attract views.
He stressed that such baseless stories could harm the image of Ninh Binh, home to the UNESCO-listed Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, as a leading tourist destination.
The department has asked police to investigate the source of the online post.

A screenshot shows a viral social media post claiming a young woman encountered ghosts while traveling in Ninh Binh Province, northern Vietnam.
According to the post, the woman visited Ninh Binh from May 29 to May 31.
On her first day, she took the last boat ride of the day at Trang An, accompanied by another couple.
As night fell, she claimed to hear voices calling her name inside caves, though she knew no one on the boat.
She said the boat operator did not respond when she tried to speak.
When the boat returned to the dock, she described feeling disoriented and unable to find the exit.
Later, on May 30, after attending a music event, she reported more unusual experiences and decided to stay an extra night in Ninh Binh.
The post quickly went viral, gaining more than three million views within hours before the account owner temporarily hid it.
