Expected to open in July 2027, the venue will claim the title of the world’s largest stadium with an automated retractable roof.
The stadium sits at the heart of the 73.3-hectare Hanoi International Sports Urban Area.
Built to FIFA standards, the facility is designed to position Vietnam as a future host for major international gatherings, including the Asian Games, the Olympics, and the FIFA World Cup.
Beyond its scale, Vingroup is pitching the arena as a high-tech "smart stadium."
Planned features include AI-driven crowd control and security, smart seating hooked into high-speed 5G networks, and automated pitch technology capable of replacing the playing surface in just six to 10 hours.
The venue will also feature eco-friendly designs aimed at cutting clean water use by 70% alongside energy-saving ventilation systems.
Addressing the choice of name, Vingroup stated that VinFast—originally launched as the company's EV arm—has grown to represent Vietnamese innovation, ambition, and the competitive spirit embodied by world-class athletics.
