What’s new in Vietnam's Quang Ninh for year-end travelers

Quang Ninh, a coastal province in northern Vietnam, is rolling out a range of tourism deals, events and new experiences to attract 4.2 million visitors in the final three months of the year, as it targets 23 million visitors in 2026.

According to Quang Ninh's tourism authorities, the northern province is estimated to have welcomed about 18.8 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, including around 4.21 million international visitors. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND56.4 trillion (US$2.17 billion).

With a full-year target of 23 million visitors and more than VND70 trillion ($2.69 billion) in tourism revenue, the final three months of the year are a key push for Quang Ninh's tourism sector. The province needs to attract about 4.2 million more visitors and generate around VND13.6 trillion ($523 million) in additional revenue.

More discounts, more experiences

To attract visitors during the fall and winter seasons, Quang Ninh is running a tourism stimulus program through December, with more than 20 three- to five-star accommodation providers taking part.

Participating businesses are offering discounts of 20 to more than 60 percent. But notably, many are going beyond room discounts by bundling accommodation with dining, wellness and transportation services to enhance the visitor experience.

At FTE Ha Long Hotel, for example, guests receive complimentary sauna and detox services, along with discounts of 40 to 50 percent on selected dining, spa and transportation services. The hotel has so far booked more than 60 percent of its room capacity a month in advance.

Restaurants, transportation providers and attractions are also joining the program, offering discounts, complimentary services or bundled tourism packages.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper, a leader from the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the approach is aimed at giving visitors more choices rather than competing solely on price, while encouraging them to use more services during the same trip.

Quang Ninh heats up for fall and winter

Alongside tourism deals, Quang Ninh is turning to a lineup of cultural, sports, food and entertainment events to give visitors more reasons to come in the final months of the year.

The fall-winter tourism campaign will feature a diverse range of cultural, artistic, sports and culinary events.

Highlights include a cultural, arts, tourism and food exchange between Quang Ninh and China's Guangxi region; the Quang Ninh Food Festival 2026; a series of arts programs and concerts; the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon; the Yen Tu Autumn Festival; and the Binh Lieu Then Festival, celebrating the traditional folk music of the Tay ethnic community.

Alongside the domestic market, international visitors remain a key source of tourism demand during the fall and winter seasons.

In the first nine months of the year, Quang Ninh welcomed about 4.21 million international visitors, mainly from China, South Korea, Japan, India, ASEAN countries, Europe, North America and Australia.

Tourism promotion efforts have also expanded to Russia, Australia, India, China and Southeast Asia. International cruise tourism remains a focus, with Quang Ninh welcoming 49 international cruise ships carrying 58,879 passengers in the first nine months of the year.

An additional 30 international cruise ships are expected to call at Ha Long International Cruise Port by the end of the year.

Quang Ninh is also continuing to refresh familiar tourism products and explore the deeper value of Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu, while linking accommodation, transportation, dining and shopping services to create longer itineraries.

With about 4.2 million visitors still needed in the final three months of the year, Quang Ninh's challenge is not simply to fill the low season. Its tourism stimulus programs also aim to extend visitors' stays, increase spending, and give them more reasons to return.
