The organizers of Miss Tourism Vietnam 2028 officially announced the launch of the pageant in Hanoi on Friday.
The competition is not simply a beauty pageant but also carries a special economic and cultural responsibility, said Dam Phuong Anh, head of the organizing board.
The contest aims to promote Vietnam’s image, its people and its national identity to a wider international audience, particularly across Southeast Asia and Asia.
Each contestant is expected to serve as a tourism ambassador, using her intelligence, knowledge and beauty to contribute to the country’s development.
The theme also seeks to inspire national pride and encourage contestants to embrace a spirit of dedication and contribution to society.
Miss Tourism Vietnam 2028 is meant to discover women who combine beauty, intelligence, talent and resilience, with the ability to inspire others and showcase Vietnam’s culture and tourist destinations.
Beyond physical appearance and stage performance, the competition will place strong emphasis on cultural and tourism knowledge, communication skills, public speaking, foreign-language proficiency and content creation.
Contestants are expected to take part in activities exploring Vietnam’s heritage sites, natural landscapes, cuisine, traditional craft villages and community life.
They will also experience local destinations and promote them through media products, alongside charitable initiatives and environmental protection activities.
Through these experiences, the organizers hope to equip every contestant with the knowledge and practical skills needed to become a tourism ambassador for her home locality.
Miss Tourism Vietnam 2028 will be held in Quang Tri Province, located in north-central Vietnam, in connection with activities marking the response to National Tourism Year 2027.
The grand finale is expected to take place around the New Year celebrations in 2028.
The competition is open to Vietnamese female citizens and women of Vietnamese origin aged 18 to 24, with a minimum height of 1.63 meters.
Applicants must not have undergone cosmetic surgery or gender reassignment, must be unmarried and must not have given birth.
