Measuring 2,145 mm long, 840 mm wide, and 1,200 mm high, the motorcycle has a seat height of 880 mm and weighs some 134 kilograms.
Its flat seat draws inspiration from Yamaha's YZ off-road range.
Combined with wide footpegs, the design allows riders to shift their seating position or stand on the pegs to adjust their center of gravity when riding over challenging terrain.
One of the WR155R's key features is its long-travel suspension.

The motorcycle adopts the wheel configuration commonly found on dual-sport models, with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel.
Both are fitted with knobby tires intended for a variety of surfaces, ranging from paved roads to dirt, mud and rocky terrain.
Ground clearance stands at 245mm, helping reduce the risk of the underside striking the ground when riding over rough sections.

The exhaust system is positioned high.
The WR155R also features an engine guard to help protect the crankcase from direct impacts when riding over rocks and other obstacles.

Power comes from a 155.1cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, SOHC, four-valve engine with electronic fuel injection and Yamaha's variable valve actuation (VVA) technology.
The engine produces a maximum output of 12.3 kW, or around 16.5 horsepower, at 10,000 rpm, while peak torque reaches 14.3 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
Power is delivered through a six-speed transmission.

According to Yamaha, the intake and exhaust systems have been tuned to emphasize low- and mid-range torque, which is useful in off-road conditions.
The higher rev range, meanwhile, is intended to support longer-distance road riding.
The WR155R is also equipped with an Assist & Slipper clutch, which is designed to reduce clutch-lever effort and limit rear-wheel jolts or instability when the rider makes rapid downshifts.

Braking is handled by hydraulic disc brakes at both ends.
The front uses a 240 mm disc with a two-piston caliper, while the rear is equipped with a 220 mm disc.

A hazard warning-light function is also included.
The WR155R expands the dual-sport line-up in Vietnam and targets riders looking to combine everyday transportation with weekend trips on off-road terrain.
