The accident occurred at 10:30 am in Van Ho Commune. The bus, driven by 41-year-old Luu Viet T. from Hanoi, was traveling from Kim Lien Ward in Hanoi to Van Ho when the crash happened.
Police said the road is steep, winding, and only about 2.5 meters wide.
The driver, unfamiliar with the terrain, lost control of the vehicle, which then fell into the ravine.
The crash left the bus heavily damaged.
One passenger died at the scene, while six others were rushed to Mai Chau General Hospital in neighboring Phu Tho Province for emergency treatment.
Local traffic police, firefighters, and rescue teams quickly arrived to assist victims and secure the site.
Initial findings suggest the driver’s unfamiliarity with the terrain, combined with difficult road conditions, led to the crash.
Authorities are continuing their investigation.
