Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO) said the disruption is necessary to remove water supply equipment from a pipeline along Vo Thi Sau Street in Xuan Hoa Ward for construction of Metro Line No. 2 running from Ben Thanh to Tham Luong.
Ben Thanh Water Supply JSC will cut water supplies to parts of Tan Dinh, Ben Thanh, Cau Ong Lanh, Ban Co, Xuan Hoa and Nhieu Loc Wards.
The outage will also affect Vuon Lai, Hoa Hung, Dien Hong, Phu Tho, Binh Thoi and Minh Phung Wards, as well as part of Hoa Binh Ward, which are supplied by Phu Hoa Tan Water Supply JSC.
In areas managed by Gia Dinh Water Supply JSC, Nhieu Loc Ward will experience a water outage, while Phu Nhuan Ward will face low water pressure.
Meanwhile, areas managed by Thu Duc Water Supply JSC will experience low water pressure as pumping at Thu Duc Water Plant must be reduced.
These areas include Le Van Viet, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, the second campus of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, and the Nguyen Xien-Nguyen Duy Trinh area in Linh Xuan, Tang Nhon Phu and Long Binh Wards.
Due to the characteristics of the water supply network, water service may take longer to return to some areas far from the water source than the stated restoration deadline.
SAWACO has instructed its affiliated units to regulate the water supply network to minimize disruptions. It will also increase water deliveries by tanker trucks to key locations.
