Politics

-- Party General Secretary To Lam hosted a reception for Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya in Hanoi on Wednesday, during which the Party chief called for stronger cooperation between the two countries in science-technology, innovation, culture, education, religion, and tourism, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- State President Luong Cuong, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda on Wednesday afternoon (local time), commencing a state visit to Angola at the invitation of President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço and his spouse.

Society

-- Hanoi has started to ban vehicles from entering several streets from Thursday to Sunday to organize some activities marking the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution and National Day (September 2), as well as the Festival for the Peaceful Capital.

-- A container truck was traveling on My Phuoc-Tan Van Road in Tan Dong Hiep Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Di An City in former Binh Duong Province, at around 8:00 pm on Wednesday when the cabin suddenly caught fire. The driver quickly stopped the vehicle and escaped before the fire spread.

-- The construction minister has given the nod for a project to complete the Nui Vung tunnel on the Cam Lam-Vinh Hao expressway in south-central Vietnam to reduce traffic congestion, with a total investment of VND1.16 trillion (US$44.2 million) funded by the state budget.

Economy

-- The State Securities Commission of Vietnam has issued a decision imposing an administrative fine of VND92.5 million ($3,525) on Hoang Anh Gia Lai JSC for failing to disclose required information as mandated by the law.

Tourism

-- International tourist arrivals in Vietnam reached 12.2 million between January and July, up 22.5 percent year on year, surpassing the figure recorded in 2019, the golden period of Vietnamese tourism, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

-- The Quang Ninh Province Military Command started to deploy a military medical ship and two patrol boats to conduct round-the-clock patrols in Ha Long Bay from Wednesday in an effort to enhance safety for tourists visiting and staying in the bay.

World News

-- The United States will impose a tariff of about 100 percent on semiconductor chips imported from countries not producing in America or planning to do so, Reuters reported, citing President Donald Trump.
