-- Due to the impact of a low-pressure trough and the southwest monsoon, Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region are forecast to experience prolonged moderate to heavy rainfall until May 27, according to the Southern and Central Highlands weather center.

-- As part of the efforts to prevent the spread of the Omicron XEC variant of COVID-19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has requested medical facilities to enhance surveillance and ensure that everyone entering or leaving hospitals wears a face mask.

-- Former Politburo member and former State President Tran Duc Luong passed away at 10:51 pm on Tuesday at his residence in Hanoi at the age of 88, after a period of illness.
