A local official told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday that the ward’s competent forces are tasked with patrols during office hours, while additional units will continue inspections in the evenings to prevent recurrence.
Residents reported that rental businesses charge VND10,000 (US$0.4) per song and operate nightly between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm, causing significant disturbance to families, children, and even foreign visitors.
Joggers and pedestrians along the scenic riverside also expressed frustration over excessive noise from mobile karaoke services.
During a patrol at 8:50 pm on September 19, ward police booked a woman named A.T. for renting out portable karaoke speakers for gatherings on the sidewalk, warning her about noise regulations.
She admitted the violation and pledged to comply with the law.
Authorities said violators would face stricter penalties if the situation continues.
Residents are encouraged to report noise issues directly to the ward police hotline.
