The municipal Management Center of Public Transport confirmed on Friday that it had reached agreements with transport operators Phuong Trang Futa Buslines, Go Labs, and VinBus to implement the program.
Free bus rides
Passengers on all routes operated by Phuong Trang Futa Buslines in the city will enjoy free rides from September 1 to 2.
Similarly, VinBus will offer free rides on its three bus routes during the same period.
In addition, passengers paying with Mastercard cards on buses equipped with T10 payment devices will be entitled to free fares, limited to two trips per card per day.
The system will automatically record successful transactions at a VND0 fare.
According to the center, these programs are fully funded by the companies themselves, aiming to promote bus use during the holiday and reduce congestion in the city.
Free metro rides on September 2
Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Co. Ltd., which operates Metro Line No. 1, announced that all passengers will travel for free on September 2.
To receive a free ride, passengers can either scan their chip-based citizen ID cards at the gate or generate a ‘Doc lap’ (Independence) QR code via the HCMC Metro HURC mobile app.
The move comes as part of the city’s efforts to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day while encouraging people to experience its newest public transit system.
