Metro line No. 1, the first of its kind in Ho Chi Minh City, stretches nearly 20 kilometers, from Ben Thanh Station in the city center to Suoi Tien Coach Station.
To accommodate the expected surge in travel during the celebrations, the metro operator was set to expand services and increase train frequency throughout the day.
The metro line is operating from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm, with approximately 248 train trips scheduled.
Between 8:30 pm and 10:00 pm, trains run every six minutes to meet higher passenger demand, particularly for those attending festival events and watching the evening fireworks display.
Passengers can enjoy the free service on Thursday by using a chip-enabled national ID card to tap directly at the fare gates, scanning the ‘QR HCMC METRO’ code available through the HCMC Metro HURC mobile application, or receiving a free paper QR ticket from self-service kiosks at metro stations.
The free travel promotion applies only to passengers using one of these three designated methods.
Travelers who purchase tickets through the regular fare system will still be charged, and those fares will not be refunded.
The ‘QR HCMC METRO’ feature in the HCMC Metro HURC application has been activated on Thursday and is valid for use only today.
The metro line began commercial operations in December 2024.
