An officer in Dong Ky Commune told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that prolonged heavy rainfall triggered rising water levels that isolated their home near Suoi Doc Hamlet in the commune.
The family includes a 76-year-old member and a 10-year-old child, said the officer.
As the floodwaters intensified, local authorities quickly mobilized officers and rescuers to save the family.
Officers brought in specialized equipment, including safety ropes, and implemented a carefully coordinated rescue plan.
Rescuers secured thick ropes to large trees to create a stable lifeline across the flood zone.
Then, one by one, officers helped each family member cross to safety, battling strong currents and ensuring all five were evacuated from the danger zone unharmed.
After the successful rescue, the heavy rain continued across the area through midday.

Authorities remained on high alert, extending assistance to other affected households and monitoring flood conditions to prevent further risks.
They urged residents to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary and to relocate people and valuables from flood-prone areas to safer locations due to the widespread flooding.
