According to the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beach Management Board, the incident occurred at about 6:15 am near a beach access point on Nguyen Than Hien Street in the Tan Tra beach area, located in the city’s Ngu Hanh Son Ward.
Lifeguard Tran Van Cu, who is part of the rescue team under the management board, noticed a group of five Indian tourists, including three women and two men, walking along the shoreline from a distance.
Shortly afterward, two male tourists entered the water to swim but did so outside the buoy-marked safety zone.
Strong waves quickly pulled them out to sea.

Cu rushed into the water with a lifebuoy and managed to bring both men safely back to shore.
The tourists were exhausted and frightened but did not suffer serious injuries.
They were given immediate assistance and allowed to rest before returning to their hotel.
The management board said the case highlights ongoing risks during peak tourist season, when some visitors ignore safety instructions and swim outside designated zones.
The board urged beachgoers to follow lifeguard guidance, pay attention to flags and whistles, and only swim in areas marked with safety buoys.
