The Hung Kings' Commemoration Day is one of Vietnam's most important traditional celebrations, honoring the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the nation.
Each year, the main rituals are held at Hung Temple in Viet Tri Ward, Phu Tho Province, attracting millions of people from across the country as well as overseas Vietnamese communities who gather to pay tribute.
The worship of the Hung Kings was inscribed by UNESCO in 2012 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, after being recognized by Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism as national intangible cultural heritage.
The events also aim to reinforce the spiritual significance of the commemoration as a national holiday, promote patriotism, and uphold the tradition of remembering one's roots while paying tribute to the nation's founders and predecessors.
